Greetings from the iFamily Leadership Academy Board of Directors!
iFamily is an organization of Mom Schools, which are classes or clubs created by moms, dads, or youth about something they are passionate about and want to share with the world. These Mom Schools come together to hold weekly classes in one location to make it easy for a variety of families to participate. Our organization is built on principles of belief in God, leadership education, and family stewardship of education. iFamily is led by a five member Board of Directors who approve the Mom Schools, create each semester’s schedule, govern the organization, and have a lot of fun!
Our organization was founded in 2010 and had approximately thirty families. In 2012, we had 58 families join together for learning adventures. You can read all about our history in the Our Story section.
Before you join iFamily, it is important to understand our Vision and Mission along with the Basics of Leadership Education. We have found our members are most satisfied with iFamily when their educational philosophy meshes well with these principles and we recognize our model of education is not the right fit for every family’s approach to education.
After you have read about and understand our purpose, you may decide you would like to join our group or alternatively, you may decide it is not a good fit for your family. If you have decided you would like to join us for the 2013 – 2014 year, either as a returning family or as a brand-new member, there are some things you need to do to join.
Please note, iFamily is NOT a drop-off situation, it is a family learning environment, which means children and parent(s) come to our location together and parents are expected to stay on the premises at all times.
First, read our Membership Agreement Form and decide if you are willing to agree to the terms of membership. Please note that there are some changes in our requirements this year. The building we meet in has developed a Building Use Policy which we must adhere to. Please read them and decide if you can follow them – the privilege of staying at our current location depends upon our members following these policies. One of the big changes is children and youth under the age of 15 must be supervised by a parent at all times. Additionally, we must have adults in the hallways and outside the building at all times so that children are kept safe and the church’s facility is protected, so parents will need to fulfill additional hall and outside monitoring duties.
Second, look at the Fall Semester Schedule and Classes & Mentors page and decide which Mom Schools your family would like to be involved in. Then plan out your schedule, fees, and supplies needed and make final decisions as to whether iFamily is right for your family at this time. If you decide it is, move on to the list below.
Complete the Membership Agreement Form between July 15 and July 25 to enable you to register for Mom Schools on July 29 (if you fill this form out after July 25, that is fine, you can still join iFamily, you just won’t be able to register for Mom Schools on Registration Day). This form will require you to have completed a few tasks before you submit it online. Here is the list:
Mom School (or class) registration will open on July 29 at 8:00 a.m. We ask that Class Mentors not accept registrations before this time. You can find registration information for each Mom School on the individual class pages, which are linked on the Classes & Mentors page.
Your member Registration & Building fees of $65 are due by the first day of classes, September 4. You may submit them through our Paypal account – instructions are right here. When you fulfill your cleaning responsibility you will receive $20 cash back.
We will be meeting for classes once again at Christ Community Church. The facilities there are comfortable, the people are gracious, and the space is affordable.
Enjoy perusing the site and discovering what iFamily has to offer your family. We are looking forward to another great year at iFamily!
