We are excited for this coming semester and the amazing classes put forward by our mentors!

Core

Class Fees

iFamily Leadership Academy supports a free-market. Class fees are determined by each mentor and set accordingly. These fees are in addition to your registration fee, which covers our cost of operation. If you have questions about a specific class's fee, please contact that mentor directly.

Class Application

Class applications are conducted via email with the class mentor on Monday, December 16, 2024 beginning at 8am. No early applications will be accepted. All application information is found on the class description page available to full iFamily members. Mentors will respond to applications by Wednesday, December 18 at noon unless otherwise noted.

Age Designations

Our Phases of Learning are based on students' individual development and do not have direct age equivalents. We include an age range as a general guideline, but it is ultimately up to a parent and their student to decide which phase will bring them the most success. For more information, please go here.

Core Phase

Bluey!

Everyone loves Bingo and Bluey, and all of the creative, and silly antics that they get up to. In every imaginative game these two sisters play they always learn a great life lesson. From the ocean to space, grannies to fairies, there is always a fun adventure just waiting in our imaginations. Come join us as we dive into the world of Bluey, and go on our very own adventures.

Door of Discovery

This class is designed for Kindergarten aged children as a bridge between Core phase and Love of Learning phase. The children can look forward to a pleasant class time filled with a variety of stories, hands-on projects, music, poetry, movement, art, nature, and learning through play.

Music & Munchkins Part 2

This is a continuation of Music and Munchkins fall semester. We had so much fun and I want to build on what we started. Let's keep the momentum going!
If your munchkin loves to sing or move to music then this is the class for him or her! We are going to be goofy and active while learning songs and about rhythm, notes, solfege, feelings, and interval ear training. It's going to be fun!

Come play with us each week as we explore with our hands to stimulate our senses and develop skills through lots of fun sensory bins!

Skippito y Amigos

Does your child love to pretend? Learn new words in different languages? Listen to stories? Dress up? Paint? Cut and paste? Create with play-dough? Come join us as we read Skippyjon Jones and other stories that have English and Spanish in them, put on masks, capes, tutus, etc., “sword fight” (definitely pool noodles!) giant bumble bees, cut snowflakes, make dinosaur skeletons, and lots more fun

Goofy Grammar

Think Grammar is boring? Think again! Through movement, acting, games, and songs, we will learn all about the parts of speech. By the end of the class, you will be able to identify the part of speech for every word in a sentence, add flare to your writing and earn the title of Grammar Master. After this, Grammar will never be boring again!

Itchin' to be Stitchin'

Itchin’ to be Stitchin’ is a hand sewing class. This semester we will be learning how to embroider. Embroidery is the handicraft of decorating fabric by stitching with needle and thread. We will begin by learn how to make 30 different stitches. Following that, we will make a flower basket sampler that can be framed.

LEGO Adventure

In LEGO Adventure we will explore our world. From jungles to amusement parks, we will learn fun facts and history about each weekly topic. Students will then be challenged to work in groups to create a build related to the theme.
Each student will also be invited to sign up to share a simple presentation at the beginning of class about the topic of the week. This is optional.

Calling all wisecracks, jokesters, show-offs, AND the soft-spoken, "shy", and "sweet" types, too. There is a place for everyone as we play our way to stronger leadership skills! This class will be 50 minutes of fun and intentional games and activities that are designed to help you become the best version of yourself.

Starport Adventures

Starport is an amazing open world where anything might happen, where unicorns walk alongside robots, where a starship might be visiting from an unknown world. Where magic is real, and adventure is just around the corner. This tabletop roleplaying game is a non-violent game of adventure and imagination designed to facilitate growth in problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, critical thinking, reading, writing, oral communication, mathematics, and self-esteem.

In Wings and Wheels we will explore the invention and innovation of amazing vehicles. Each week will be a lesson and then build a model of the transportation we are studying.

All About Weather

This is going to be a fun science class. The class is going to be geared to junior high age students - around 10 yrs to 13 years old. Do you know why we get tornadoes? What causes heat waves and cold snaps? We will learn All About the Weather in this class. We will have some exciting experiments to help the children understand better.

Bigger than Oneself

Who is your hero? We all have someone we consider a hero. A sports star might have the greatest batting average, the most dunks, or be able to save anything. A music idol might have the most hit singles, the best music videos, or just be gorgeous. Each of these people may be a hero, but it’s not their athletic prowess, dancing stems, or good looks that make them so. Joseph Campbell said that, “A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself.”

Black History Deep Dive

Join me on a trip throughout history through student presentations, incredible picture books, deep discussions, and even some great movies! This semester we are exploring black history. We will journey from Africa to Britain to the United States and cover the time period from the late 1700’s to the late 1900’s.

Chemistry for Kids

We will be learning from the Chemistry Manual from the Good and Beautiful Resources. We will be doing small experiments in class. The students will need to be willing to do an outside science project and bring it to class to display.

Improv Comedy Club

This class is for 12-13 year old boys who want to have fun, as well as create and strengthen friendships. Improv Comedy Club will explore improvisation games, techniques, and concepts in a fun supportive environment. This class will encourage students to become more spontaneous, creative, playful, and imaginative, all while developing friendships and interpersonal skills. We will also learn how basic improv skill techniques can improve your conversations and social interaction.
We will have three class parties at my home. I’m still finalizing dates, but one will be before iFamily begins.

Joyful Noise

Joyful noise is a fun choir for young singers ready to start singing and reading choral 2 and 3 part singing. We will be learning 5 songs and will perform at the end of the semester.

Key of Liberty

The Influence Lab

The Influence Lab is a fun, interactive communications class that will help you ace your connections with others--even in challenging situations! Each week, we will experiment and learn principles found in Dale Carnegie's book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People" with interactive activities from role-playing to case-studies to group discussions. Developing these essential communications skills will help you shine and create a lasting impact in every area of your life.

During first semester in iShakespeare we practiced all 5 scholar skills (Reading, Writing, Thinking, Speaking, and Computing) and your youth began finding their voice and discovering the greatness that lies within them. This semester we have a new challenge as we continue actor's training and work on our culminating activity, performing a Shakespeare Play!

Let's Serve

Move it or lose it? Or lose it or lose it? Both! If we don’t keep active, we lose the ability. If we don’t lose our life in serving others, our life will be lacking. Service is a great way to enhance and enrich your life. It brings meaning. Join with other youth to cultivate the character of looking outside yourself to lift and lighten loads of those around you. We will organize and execute service initiatives large and small. Join us!

New Horizons choir is a fun way to improve your singing skills. We will be learning 5 great songs and perform at the end of the semester. The songs will be choral songs in 4 parts. It is a great way to mix with other kids and learn a skill at the same time.

This class rehearses once a week at my house. We currently practice on Monday mornings (could change if necessary). This class is limited and singers must also be in the New Horizons choir. Sword of Freedom, Semester 2

THIS IS A 2 SEMESTER CLASS Do your loyalties lie with the North or the South? Will you stand by and watch while your country is torn apart, or will you stand up and fight for a cause you believe in? Join us in experiencing a “new birth of freedom” as we study the events surrounding the American Civil War and the lives of men and women who changed the world. In this second of TWO SEMESTERS of study, students will deep-dive into the issues plaguing the not-so-United States as we discuss difficult issues such as states’ rights vs. federal control, the constitutionality of cessation, and slavery.

Edison

The Edison Project provides inspiration for students to design and complete their own project they are passionate about and give students the vision, skills, and abilities to develop it. The class provides discussion of great ideas, problem solving for roadblocks, and opportunities for the student giving them a chance to discover their mission and where they can have impact for good through class time and retreats. The project opportunities are endless. They can learn a new skill, improve on a familiar one, or work to accomplish something that will move them forward in their life goals.

ACTivate Stage Left

ACTivate Stage Left is a theater class for scholars. We are passionate about nurturing growth in young people and helping them find their purpose through the theater arts! Theater helps develop so many important skills, including vocabulary, verbal and non-verbal communication, better understanding of history, and empathy. Stage Left will be performing February 3-8. After that, students will be working on writing and practicing scenes which they will perform at our end of year celebration in early May.

ACTivate Stage Right

ACTivate is a theater class for scholars. We are passionate about nurturing growth in young people and helping them find their purpose through the theater arts! Theater helps develop so many important skills, including vocabulary, verbal and non-verbal communication, better understanding of history, and empathy. Stage Right will audition for our play around January 1st, beginning rehearsals January 15, with play performances April 7-12.

Sew Basic

Sew Basic is a beginning machine sewing class. Students will learn about the parts of the sewing machine and safety in sewing. They will get familiar with using the machine by first sewing on paper and then move onto projects of sewing bookmarks, bean bags, pincushions and drawstring bags. Each project builds on a new skill.
Anyone that has already taken Sew Basic can join the class and continue on with their projects.
